Ted Stevens–another Republican train wreck
It doesn’t get any better than this. Alaska Senator Ted Stevens was convicted yesterday of violating federal ethics laws while still being a candidate for re-election. What’s really funny is that he is insisting that he remain on the ballot! Is this guy nuts or what?
Granted, he IS 84 years old, and he may not have all of his faculties, because he’s got to be out of his mind if he thinks that he’s going to return to the Senate, even if by some miracle that he is re-elected next week. The Republican Party is going to be in a shambles after Election Day, and if they’re serious about rebuilding the party, they can’t have someone like Stevens hanging around with the press browbeating him day after day.
It’s not likely than an 84-year-old man will go to prison, but it would be fun to see him do a perp walk. It looks like his “Bridge to Nowhere” may lead him right to his probation officer’s desk.
