30 days and counting…

Published by mikemea at 11:43 am under Uncategorized Edit This

The election is just 30 days away, and you can bet both sides will be taking out the sharp knives on each other. The McCain camp is falling further behind, and they are poised to say just about anything to shift the focus away from the economy. Yesterday, Sarah “You Betcha” Palin made reference to Obama’s association with William Ayers, a former member of the 60s radical group The Weathermen. The story is that Obama served on a charity board with Ayers a few years ago, but somehow the Republicans think that Obama was plotting bombings when he was eight years old.

Obviously, McCain and Palin are desperate and they will stop at nothing to try to turn the tide. You can bet that Obama will bring up the Keating 5 scandal and McCain’s role in it as well as references to McCain’s divorce from his first wife as well as his current wife’s past addiction to prescription drugs and how his associates managed to get a doctor’s license revoked when he tried to blow the whistle on the issue.

It’s not going to be pretty over the next month, but look for McCain to keep trying to throw anything at Obama to see if anything will stick. At this point, the falling economy and job market matter more than wild accusations, and McCain’s chances look worse by the day.

Not to mention McCain sat on the board of the US Council For World Freedom, an ultra right-wing group led by Iran Contra principal Maj. Gen. John Singlaub. This organization was part of the Anti-Communist League, which has housed racists and anti-Semites under the guise of “protecting America”.

McCain really doesn’t want to go down this road. We are running a campaign about making America a better place, but people less principled that I have my permission to blog about McCain’s scurrilous past. Often.

McCain’s a desperate man… his released his lipsticked-pit bull out to do his dirty work, but I gotta think that the independents/undecideds aren’t going to be influenced by this kind of crap. Not when the economy is in the crapper like it is. McCain’ll try in vain to change the dialogue, but it’s not going to work. It’s the 4th quarter and McCain is down by a few touchdowns and he doesn’t have any more Hail Mary’s in his back pocket.
